In deep space near the Sojourner/Federation Border, the USS Viper, has received a distress call from The Sunkyst Flyer. The Sunkyst Flyer is a freighter registered to Captain Decon Wells. It has been plying the trading routes in and around the border for some time. Through these previous trades it has earned a good reputation as a get the job done vessel. It has a problem however; it has been plagued with bad deal after bad deal, until recently.
Not long ago Captain Wells hired a new navigational officer who brought with her business contacts that were both legitimate and well funded. She secured a cargo delivery from a small system just on the Sojourner’s side of the border to the Federation Colony on Archanis. This cargo is much needed mechanical and other essential supplies.
The delivery to Archanis has been made but as luck would have it, the Sunkyst Flyer has experienced a problem. The Flyer has lost its forward propulsion and the entire crew have simultaneously contracted an unknown illness which has rendered all of them within an inch of their lives. J’Neish, the Navigations Officer in her last moments of consciousness sent out a distress signal in hopes of finding aid and saving all the lives of the crew.
The USS Viper has responded and now faces their first operational challenge, an Away Mission led by their brand new Executive Officer into an unknown situation that has the stink of trap written all over it. Commander Thomas Smith has likened the situation to the Trojan Horse of Ancient Greek Literature, the question is: Is the analogy correct? Has the Sunkyst Flyer brought death and destruction from Sojourner Space into the heart of the Federation?
Only Time will tell.
